Highlight: Slim form, with 7.48 mm thickness
Oppo F series phones are popular for their camera-centric features. The company recently launched the Oppo F17 Pro with 6AI portrait cameras. It offers a 48MP quad-camera setup on the back and a dual punch-hole camera on the front. The phone boasts of camera features like AI colour portrait, dual-lens bokeh, AI Night Flare portrait, ultra steady video, bokeh video and more. The smartphone’s camera does justice to indoor and outdoor shots. For low-light photography, the Oppo F17 Pro has a separate night mode that works well.
Another key highlight of the device is its design. Oppo claims the F17 Pro is the “sleekest” phone of 2020. The smartphone is 7.48mm thick and weighs 164 grams. It comes with a shiny matte design on the back. There are three colour options: Magic Blue, Matte Black and Metallic White. The handset is equipped with a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED curved FHD+ display with 2400×1080 pixel resolution. The phone’s display comes with Corning Gorilla Glass and has a refresh rate of 60Hz. Colour reproduction on the screen is good. The display is bright enough even in sunlight and there were no issues in viewing angles of the screen.
On the performance front, the phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio P95 octa-core processor and runs on ColorOS 7.2, based on Android 10. There is a single variant of Oppo F17 Pro. It packs 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Although the absence of a Qualcomm processor may come as a disappointment for few, the user will not feel any lag while performing day-to-day actions. There are no major heating issues on the device either. The smartphone handles multitasking very well and features an anti-lag algorithm to automatically detect and clear data that causes memory errors.
Oppo F17 Pro is backed by a 4000mAh battery with 30watt VOOC Flash Charge. The device takes nearly an hour to charge fully. It is equipped with AI Night Charging support that optimises the battery charging to complete 100% charging at a fixed time in the morning.
With a sleek design, good camera features and decent battery life, the smartphone offers value for money. However, bloatware and the processor may be a deal-breaker for some.
