Amazon Prime Now is an express delivery service, exclusive to Amazon Prime members, that lets you receive your purchases within two hours or less. With Prime Now, members get the flexibility to order anything from groceries, to household essentials, to electronics, toys, pet supplies, and even alcohol.
Prime Now is available within select cities and relies on local couriers to deliver your purchases to you. Due to the on-going pandemic, same-day grocery delivery is now limited but you can sign up to get notified for when it’s re-instated.
Prime Now’s speedy delivery can be especially useful during Amazon’s Prime Day, which will take place on 13-14 October this year. In the UK, shoppers can order directly from retailers like Morrisons who deliver from early morning to late evening. Similarly, US Prime Now shoppers can order directly from Whole Foods.
Right now, US shoppers can get $10 to spend on Prime Day in return for spending $10 on Whole Foods.
Prime Now delivery rates and times
Your purchases can be delivered to you for free when you choose the 2-hour scheduled delivery window. In the UK, orders must be at least £15, however, your cart must be worth at least £40/$35 to qualify for free two-hour delivery, or you will be charged a £3.99/$4.99 fee..
In 2018 Prime Now also included one-hour delivery for £7.99/$7.99, depending on availability by postcode – however this benefit is no longer advertised by Amazon, likely due to the disruptons caused by the pandemic.
Deliveries are made seven days a week, from early morning to late at night. Once you place an order, you also receive tracking updates directly to your phone so you can see how far along your delivery is. You can follow the delivery journey on a map too by going into the “Your Orders” section under “Your Account” on Amazon Prime.
What is the fee for Amazon Prime Now?
Standard Amazon Prime membership

Amazon Prime Student membership
An Amazon Prime Student account costs half the price of a regular membership. The monthly rate is £3.99/$6.49 per month or £39/$59 per year (which works out to £3.25/$4.92 per month).

How does Prime Now work?
Amazon Prime Now works through the Prime Now website or via the free Amazon Prime Now app which is available for iOS (US link here) and Android (US link here). You can, of course, download it through Amazon too.
To see what items are available near you, enter your postcode on the app, or if you’re using the website, mouse over the “Shopping in ‘Postcode'” menu to use or update your postcode. Next, add what you need to your cart and check out with your Amazon Prime account.
On the delivery menu, you can choose a two-hour time slot to you would like to receive your products by your products will be delivered to you by your local couriers based on the delivery window you prefer.
