PREORDERS ARE LIVE: As of Oct. 2, the all-new Microsoft Surface Pro X and Surface Laptop Go (both out Oct. 13) are available for preorder at Best Buy and the Microsoft Store starting at $549.99 and $1,499.99, respectively.

Not to be outdone by Apple and Samsung‘s recent product drops, Microsoft kicked off October by announcing two major additions to its Surface family of devices — and you don’t have to wait long to get your hands on them.

Geared toward remote workers and learners in need of upgraded tech, the redesigned Surface Pro X and the all-new Surface Laptop Go are scheduled to arrive on Oct. 13 (along with a whole bunch of new Surface accessories).

If you want to reserve one ahead of time so you don’t have to deal with the chaos of Prime Day — Amazon’s savings event is set to begin that very same day — you can reserve one ahead of time with a preorder from Best Buy or the Microsoft Store. Here’s the lowdown on each device:

Microsoft has made its 13-inch Surface Pro X from Oct. 2019 an even more powerful 2-in-1 laptop with this update, which affords it a second-gen processor that’s custom-designed for multitasking, expanded support for Microsoft’s 64-bit applications, and longer battery life. There’s also a (creepy) new “Eye Contact” feature that automatically adjusts your gaze during video calls — this is the age of Zoom, after all.

Preorders start at $1,499.99 for the 256GB model at both Best Buy and the Microsoft Store — grab one in matte black or a shiny new platinum finish.

  • 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB of storage space

  • 4GB or 8GB of RAM

  • Up to 13 hours of battery life (plus Fast Charging support)

Billed as “the everyday, everywhere laptop,” the all-new Surface Laptop Go is the lightest device of its kind, starting at just under 2.5 pounds and 15.69 inches thin. Highlights include a 12.4-inch PixelSense touchscreen display, a full-size keyboard, a built-in 720p HD camera, and Omnisonic speakers with Dolby Audio — all powered by the zippy Intel 10th-Gen i5 Quad-Core processor that’s under its hood.

Starting at $549.99 for the 65GB model with 4GB of RAM, you can pre-order one from the Microsoft Store and Best Buy in your choice of three metal finishes: ice blue, sandstorm, or platinum.
